International patient guide
Planning your visit to Motential Clinic in Seoul
A useful travel plan starts with your questions, the change you hope to make, and an assessment of your hair and scalp. This guide helps you prepare an enquiry and understand what to confirm before arranging treatment in Seoul.
Dr Injae Lee personally reviews and answers questions sent through the clinic’s official channels. Replies may take time while he is consulting, operating, or reviewing your information. You can meet the doctor and check his credentials and research sources before deciding whether to enquire.
Before you contact us
Please tell us:
- Your country of departure and preferred language.
- The area or concern you would like assessed, and the change you hope to achieve.
- Your preferred dates and how flexible your travel plans are.
- How we can reply through your chosen official contact channel.
You can enquire before choosing travel dates. If a family member contacts us for you, they should have your permission; your own confirmation is still needed for treatment decisions. Photographs can support a preliminary discussion of scope and cost, but do not replace an in-person examination.
Confirm the visit plan for your treatment
- Hair transplantation: discuss the intended area, donor assessment, estimated quantity, shaving approach, and follow-up appointments.
- Scalp micropigmentation (SMP): ask how the assessment, treatment appointments, and follow-up would be scheduled for your intended area.
- SMP correction: explain your previous SMP and what concerns you. Ask what needs to be assessed before a correction plan and visit schedule can be discussed.
- Hair loss care: ask what the consultation involves, when findings would be discussed, and how follow-up could fit your location.
Do not assume that the timetable for hair transplantation also applies to SMP, correction, or hair loss care.
From consultation to follow-up
- In-person assessment. The doctor examines your hair, scalp, and, for transplantation, donor area. An estimate based on photographs may change. The clinic explains the revised plan and cost before finalising it.
- Treatment day. For hair transplantation, the clinic focuses on one surgical patient per day. Dr Lee performs follicle extraction and implantation; the graft-separation team assists with sorting and classification. This does not mean all clinic services are limited to one patient daily.
- The next-day appointment. After hair transplantation, a clinic visit is planned for a progress check and hair washing. Confirm its timing alongside your travel arrangements, including any closure days.
- After returning home. Use the official contact channel given to you before departure. Dr Lee reviews your questions and may request further information. Some concerns cannot be assessed from photographs and may require an in-person examination.
Compare quantities and costs clearly
A hair is not the same unit as a graft. A graft, or follicular unit, can contain more than one hair. The clinic uses approximately two hairs per graft as a simple consultation guide, not a fixed ratio for every patient. Actual extracted and implanted quantities and graft composition are recorded separately.
Costs are based in Korean won (KRW). Check the quantity unit, total amount, tax treatment, and included items in your written quotation. Currency conversions are estimates; exchange rates and payment-provider terms can affect the amount charged. You can also review the hair transplant quantity enquiry form before contacting us.
Your travel and language checklist
Before paying or booking travel, ask the clinic to confirm:
- Language arrangements for enquiries, consultation, treatment, and follow-up, including any interpreter fee.
- The deposit amount, its calculation basis, payment methods, and how it is credited toward treatment.
- Cancellation and date-change terms, including how any deposit refund is calculated.
- Whether airport pickup or nearby accommodation applies to your booking, and the exact arrangements and costs.
- Which treatment-day and aftercare items are included, plus the appointments needed before departure.
Check the clinic’s location and access information when arranging transport.
Frequently asked questions
Can consultation and surgery take place on the same day?
They can be arranged on the same day. Confirm availability, assessment arrangements, and the applicable deposit terms with the clinic before treating a requested date as a confirmed surgical booking.
How many nights should I plan to stay?
Ask for a schedule based on your treatment and follow-up needs. Confirm departure timing with the clinic; a short visit described for another patient is not a guarantee for your itinerary.
Is an interpreter included?
Japanese consultation and interpreter support are available with advance arrangements. Tell us your preferred language so we can confirm the support and costs that apply to your visit.
Are airport pickup and a hotel included?
Ask for these items to be confirmed in your quotation. Eligibility and arrangements must be checked for your booking; do not assume that every visit includes transport or accommodation.
What if the estimated transplant quantity changes?
The donor assessment may support a smaller plan. The doctor explains the reason, and the clinic explains the applicable cost-adjustment basis before surgery. Extra transplantation is not automatically free.
Will I have to agree to publication of my photographs?
Published cases use materials from patients who have separately agreed. Even with that agreement, the clinic presents hair changes while obscuring facial identity.
